cashiers at fastfood joints have a tough job.
they have to listen to(and decipher)what a variety of customers(who describe their orders in all sorts of ways with different standards of english) are saying, and then convey down the message after organinsing it in their head.
it becomes even more difficult for them when customers make modifications to their meals in bits and pieces.
hence i propose the use of economical english in all fastfood joints.
the concept is simple:
make orders in the most easily understood manner using as little words as possible.
to achieve this, there are some basic principles involved.
1. Be clear Be-forehand.
2. Consolidate meals.
3. Foundation first.
3. Modification last.
4. Less words = Less mess-ups.
5. Pace in Phase.
hence in this manner, the cashier will understand your order in the least amount of time with minimal difficulty.
in practice it would transform this
aunty, can i have 1 bigmac meal, change the coke to ice lemon tea, uhhh, 1 six piece mcnugget, no meal, 2 mcspicy double meals, upsize, one don't want mayo, um, 1 more bigmac meal upsize, and 1 fish mcdipper meal, got student price anot? don't have ah? ok then don't want fish mcdipper, 1 mcnugget student meal. can give me salt and curry sauce? chilli sauce also want.
into this
hi, 1 mcnugget student meal, 2 big mac meals, 2 mcspicy double meals, one no mayo, and 1 extra six piece mcnugget, no meal.
upsize 3 meals please, and 1 regular coke change to ice lemon tea.
